This has happened to me with my brothers '83 828S. We accidently put the harmonic ballancer on backwards. This ofcourse threw all the timing marks off.

Make sure you do this right. The marks on the Orange Ballancer have to be righ side up when standing infront of the car. If they are upside down, the ballancer is on backwards.

Let us knwo if this works.
