...i personally don't jump much (i ride western) but every so often i take her over logs or something. still, here are a few i came up with:

-accidents always happen, but something like that is very rare. you can always (and should always) wear protective outfits (helmets, vests, etc)

-lots of people jump, and they are fine. with the right training, practice, trust in your horse, and not much fear of falling; you should be ok! (these things apply to my insane barrel horse) ;)

-there's not much else to do in the english disciplines (i'm not totally sure though) and you're not into dressage

ok first of all explain to your parents that You will not be doing any big jumps for awhile and that christopher Reeve was a big time rider.Let them know that the small jumps dont cause near as much of a threat and accident happen everywhere 24/7 but that if you have a good trainer then you will be taught to jump safely and cautiously.
