I think it is important to keep the Fed/Reb conflict... it is what keeps the game active and busy.
In my opinion, the barracks could go... characters mainly go there just to sleep and there has not been tons of interaction in those boards, it would be easy enought to just state the character has gone to the 'barracks' and leave it at that.

Humanoid aliens actually have already started filtering in here and there... a few shapeshifters...a few with wings.. some with magic which I have to try and keep an eye on.. this is not a mythical rpg. So that rule is already being bent... it could probably go.

I have no objections with the academy thing, we actually have talked about it before in past 'meetings' but unless there are a number of dedicated players to be instructors, I don't think it will be worth it.

Yes, Feds need a President, but I don't see any reason to interefere unless it becomes OOC...the Rebels picked theirs freely without incidence.. hopefully the Feds will organize themselves a bit and pick a prez. The smaller area of boards will definately help, as you said, in that respect...
