Fine. If that does not work for you, then don't do it. It was a suggestion, but you need to find what you can handle well.

If you are hated, you are hated. It happens. In fact it happens alot. Almost every character knows another character who hates them. It is not the point of the game to get along with everyone. Tension is good, without it this game would be extremely dull. Part of the game is managing to work with comrades, even if that means getting along, if only momentarily, with someone you happen not to like. If everyone was friendly with each other, then everything would go smoothly... things would be much too easy to be fun or realistic.

No player is (or at least should) be blaming your character for anything. I accept your explanation.. even though you don't need one. A leader.. yes, a bit distance, yes.. it just happens that Niamh is the opposite....likes to be friendly. Opposites rarely mix well.

Characters stressed and intense from war... yes. Who else was to greet you? I think you would be feeling worse if you were still being ignored. You have created a comfortable tension... Be happy!
Use that to your advantage.
