Yes, I am familiar with the Matrix, Star Wars,Trek etc...
But I don't want droids as advanced as Data....because he is practically invincible..

The Star Wars droids I have no problem with.. they do have personalities but are not 'good' or 'evil'.... besides the fact that this is not a good vs. evil game,....droids in all of these shows have not been truly capable of emotion.
Hate is an emotion, devotion is not.. So they may have the sense to tie someone up but not to insult them, or to hurt them purposefully...
hrmm.. hard to explain.. but because they have no emotion, they may have difficulties recognizing who is an enemy and who is a friend, unless told who is an enemy by a competant being.
For example... if Data had been created or re-programed by someone with bad intentions for the Enterprise, Data would destroy the entire ship if told too, and would think of the crew as the enemies instead of the bad guys that had programmed him.
So if droids travel somewhere by themselves, they have no sense of who is right and who is wrong...unless pointed in the right direction by a human....

Does that make sense?( you don't have to agree.. but do you understand what I said?.. sometimes I just confuse people....)
