Belinda meerly grinned, immediately wondering if he was being bothered by some sort of ghost... or he was just nuts. If it was the latter, things would be a lot easier for Belinda.
(This guys definetly certifiable....)
Belinda stood and moved over to the window to watch him, and heard the click of a gun. Belinda glanced behind her slowly, out of the corner of her eye.
"You've got a lot of brass showing your face on the outside. You're wanted all over the place." The man holding the gun said. "I should kill you right now."
Belinda smirked, and then gave a cocky half-smile. "It wouldn't be any fun if I remained in the shadows, now would it? Besides... what would you do without people like me running around?"
The man laughed, keeping his gun trained on her. Belinda glared at him under dark lashes, some of her pink hair lying in her eyes. "You shoot me now... they'll be no reward."
"You're being gone would be worth enough." The man grinned.
"So the exodus continues?" Belinda said, then shrugged. "I'm afraid you'll find I'm rather difficult to kill."
"I'm armed... You're not."
Belinda turned quickly on her heel, raised and swung her leg in a spindle kick, easily knocking the gun from the man's hand. "Don't underestimate me just because I choose not to hide like a coward behind a pistol that isn't even loaded."
The man lept for her, but Belinda easily darted out of the way, planting her knee right in his gut, then lept and kicked her foot up. Her foot connected with his chin, and his head snapped back as he fell to the floor.
"You little bitch!" He yelled, trying to get up.
Belinda dropped down and swept her leg under him, bringing him down again. Her eyes narrowed. "Your words wound me." She kicked him in between the legs, and as he crumpled to the ground, she stood over him. "Now... get out of here. And go tell Asharde if he's gonna send someone after me... He'd better send someone that won't waste my time."
The man stood, still hunched over, and made his way out the back door. Belinda shook her head.
(That was risky... if that O'Riley saw what just happened, I'll have some answering to do..)
Belinda pulled a pack of herbal cigarettes (no nicotene in those ^_^) from her pocket, removed one from the package, and lit it, taking a puff of the cigarette. She needed to think, and think fast. She stared out the window of the bar, through the smoke of the cigarette.
[Flashback:A young Belinda sat at the piano, plunking away at the keys, when she heard a thunk coming from a nearby window. She stood and approached it, then looked out to see two kids standing below, staring back up at her.
"It's that freaky girl from school.. the geeky one who got beat up by that one kid!" They said, grinning and laughing.
Belinda frowned and turned to go back to the piano, ignoring the shouts from the children below, wondering why she had to be different... why her parents pushed her to excell in all things. She wanted to be like normal kids. Why couldn't her parents let her alone??
Belinda went back to the piano and sat down, but she didn't play. She stared at the keys. Her muse had left her months ago, when they'd moved. Would it ever return? Deep inside... Belinda hoped it wouldn't.]
Belinda returned to reality just as quickly as she had blanked out. She still stood at the window, cigarette nearly burned out.
( Why did I remember this just now? What is so important about what happened to me in the past. I don't even remember owning a piano.)
Belinda sighed and put out her cigarette on the bottom of her boot, then ran a hand through her hair again.
(One thing's for certain... standing around here isn't getting anything done...)
Belinda walked over to her bag that still sat on the floor, picked it up, and rumaged through it, her hand brushing up against a photo she carried of Margarite. Belinda's frown grew deeper as she took out the photo and looked at it.
"Don't worry. I'm gonna find him. This incident will not go unsolved.... and I'm not gonna give up without a fight, Margarite. You know I won't let him get away with this. You deserve to rest in peace. I'll find him..." She murmured quietly, then put the picture away.
