Subject: Rowbotham Mystery ? name change

Story handed down, Orginal name Rowbotham ( not sure of spelling) one of the sons was a gutter drunk. There was suppose to have been something so bad that part of the family changed thier name to Daniels.
Do this story sound familar to anyone ?
