Akira races along the shoreline, fast as the wind. His heart pounding in terror for Keso's life, and he calls to Elena and tells her to get back to the shore. Then, when he was close to Keso, he leaped into the river with a splash. The icy water chilled him to the bone, but he ignored it. Swimming as fast as he could, he grabbed the wet ball of fur that was his son. He carried him back to shore. Just before he climbed out himself, he set Keso down. THe pup coughed and sputtered, but he seemed alright. But as Akira was climbing out, a small log that had been carried down by the river hits him and knocks him away from the shore and towards the waterfall. He tries to fight the current, but fails. "Father!" cries Keso. Akira was no longer trying to get back. He was too tired now to fight the current. Keso starts to climb in the water after Akira. But the exhausted wolf calls back to him. "No, Keso! Stay where you are!" His head dissappears under the rapids for a moment, but then reamerges. "You two stay there! Don't come after me!" The wolf is carried down to the falls and dissappears over the edge.
