Kev,

I think you are well intentioned, but the fact of the matter is that we cannot go around boycotting products that have affiliation with tainted regimes.

Most Americans buy cheap clothes/shoes/electronics made in China which I believe is the most brutal regime of all.

In the 1980s Americans did not stop buting diamonds from South Africa which was following the most foul form of governance possible.

So, let's not get into this boycott thing which hurts common Americans more than it does to some fatass Sheikhs.

Well, I tried. Just saw that and wanted to put the hurt on the Saudis. However, someone directed me to a site on urban legends where I found that this won't put that big of a dent in these guys pocketbooks anyway. Boo Hoo :(

I'd really like to put the hurt on those guys!

I was once stranded in an airport with a German guy who was with a construction company with 30 years of Middle East experience. He told me that the Saudis are basically lazy people with clannish mentality.

Every clan has a Prince and the King disburshes a sum of money to each Prince every year to "take care" of his clan. So, if "Al Schmoe" needs a new house, he just goes to his Prince and gets the cash. That's it. By paying them off, the Prince buys loyalty. similarly, if "Al Joe" feels that he needs to propagate Wahhabi Islam, his Prince gives him a few bucks to get lost. There is no incentive to work or think freely.

These guys will get back to tending their Camels and fighting amongst each other once their oil runs out. So, sit tight and let it ride.
