Making all every death perma, just won't work, you're right, mainly because, as Jas pointed out, NWN is "live" and too many mistakes can be made before you can blink, and the DM is well . . . human.

Hmm I'll have to give that some thought (as far as traps are concerned). I don't disagree that detecting traps can make for a slower game, but what's the point of being a rogue if I take traps and locked doors out of the game? Besides, I think sometimes those slow times can offer the rest of the group some interaction time. *shrugs* As a player, I actually enjoy waiting for the rogue to return with intel on what's up ahead; it gives the game a certain rhythm to it.

As for scripting something, or pausing the game . . . y'all will have to help me come up with a plausable solution if we go that route.
