Subject: BODY RULES:

There have been some comments about the "stock" body rules from several sources. Rather than respond to them individually and perhaps get them lost down the list somewhere.... We thought we would make some general comments here.
It has been our intent from the beginning to provide a consolidation of Stock Bodied car rules. This class is based on Stock street cars. There are a lot of classes that use after market bodies, and they have organizations that support them.SARA,HOOTERS,ASA,ALL PRO, Arca supercar as well as Busch and Winston Cup. etc etc. some are stock suspension based some are not. None are based on a stock body AND frame. Fans identify with a car they can identify with Just ask anyone from the Winston Cup series in Nascar. This is the void we are trying to fill. We would be trying to compete with other organizations that are already in existance, if we used fabricated bodies and allowed repositioning of firewalls etc. We would be better served, to support those organizations that are already doing that, rather than start a new one.
In our humble opinion, a car that has a fabricated body that is lowered over the frame until the carb.is protrudeing outside the hood, firewall relocated, and has a fabricated floor, is a Sportsman, or "limited" Late model and no longer fits the profile we are trying to promote. Our type of car (Stock) gets little respect from promoters and from some of the comments, little respect from some other racers. This is one of the main purposes of this organization.... to gain some respect and leave the "Bomber" image behind. We have tried to make this point from the beginning. All these racers need is a little support and respect. the rest will follow.
History has proven that as each class gets more sophisticated, and moves away from it's roots... Two things happen. One.. The cost to the racer goes UP. TWO the car count goes down !.. A case in point is FASCARS Sportsman class. Already a very modified car, now drivers are asking for roller rockers.(and they will get them)They have had very poor car counts in the recent past. I guarantee they will have even fewer cars as the cost of building one gets higher. A potential builder will decide that it's better to go ahead and build a late model (or Limited as they used to call them). The purse is better and the cost of building one not much different. This has been going on since racing began.. The "inmates running the asylum" comes to mind here.If we can keep the cost to build and operate one of these cars within the means of most racers, we will be accomplishing a much needed thing. There will be lots of cars and lots of fans. If the class REQUIRES money sponsors in order to survive,we have not done a service to the class. Well I'm off the soap box.

See y'all at the races.
