Would somebody please tell us when did AT40 actually start using the drumroll to present the # 1 song?

As a curious note, in the (in)famous Hall & Oates show before they announced the # 1 (Roll with it by Steve Windwood) they asked for the drumroll sound effect by sying "Are they ready with the timpani?"

BTW, if memory serves, I'd say Bob Kingsley's ACC used the drumroll back in the 80's. They also had that end-of-segment jingle that went "My kind of country, my kind of music". Today they're using a musical jingle instead.

IMHO, American Country Countdown not using the drumroll or any other effect for # 1 makes it sound rather bland.
