I don't doubt that......you could probably do it too....though the pay isn't uusally great...and you are a glorified button pusher....

benefits: bug the PD into taking the CDR's home after the running....

negatives: poor pay, and depending on the folks here, being bored to death for 4 hours because all you are doing is playing local spots every 10-15 mins. but as most people here would likely actually listen to the countdown, that wouldn't necessarily be a negative. what would be a negative in that case is doing other stuff off air, like setting up live remote hits in show breaks, maybe digging out the weather to read between breaks (in the smaller markets, you do everything!!) and other stuff behind the scenes. depending on the station, you don't necessarily sit there and do nothing.

this is also assuming there still are stations that have live board ops. that's less and less common, as computer automation does all the screw ups these days. no live folks in the control room.
