It was over. She blankly stared into space. He studied her, not knowing what to do. Her lack of response made his heart beat faster. He knew how emotional she was on a regular basis, so the blank stare in her eyes was more than enough to make his blood run cold.

"That's it? There's no more?" she asked calmly, her eyes not leaving the position they were fixed in.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what to say. I can't say anything," he commented cautiously, looking at her sideways while waiting for the scene to jerk into action.

But no scene came. Her throat choked up and she tried to swallow. Her eyes dropped their suspicious gaze and met his. "What do you mean there's no more? Why are you ending this relationship? There IS a reason and I want to know what it is, right now."

Her demanding tone rattled him. He knew she deserved an answer, but he wasn't prepared to give her one. How could he tell her the one thing that no one knew - not even his brother? He tried to remain calm while preparing for her to get loud. "I can't exactly tell you. There is something going on in my life right now. I can't tell you because I'm not ready. But it's a distraction and it's not fair to you. So I'm leaving right now, without you. I'm sorry I have no explanation, but this is for the best, trust me." HE said. He stood up from the table. "Goodbye Charlie," he told her and bent down to kiss her cheek. By now her eyes were quickly filling and spilling over to run down her face. Her eyes had gone back to their blank gaze and she turned her head to avoid his goodbye kiss. He paused, tapped her shoulder, and withing an instant he was gone.

"Trust you?" she whispered softly to herself. "You just walk out that door like it was nothing after telling me its over and its for the best, but with no explanation and I'm supposed to trust you?" she whispered, completely in shock at what had just taken place.

Sorry, I know this is a poetry site, but I've been working on this for a while, and if there are any of you that are good or enjoy working on prose pieces who would like to give me some advice on where to go with this, or even help me, feel free to reply down here. (Or even reply and just tell me what you think! Thanks!) Or if you have something of great importance to let me know concerning this piece, please feel free to email me. Thanks a lot!
