when we have laughed together for hours
and told the same jokes we used to
(when we were just kids)
we shall nearly be one again.

it might take some time.

when we finish off that first meal
and i have to eat the rest of yours
(because you can never finish)
we might just be full again.

our appetites have grown.

when we have sat around forever
and done nothing but curse and giggle
(shhhh my mom's in the next room)
it'll be damn near time to go.

we'll pretend we don't care.

when i see you leave my door again
just like one thousand times before
(get outta my house, jerkass!)
i'll make believe it's yesterday.

i'll know it's already tomorrow.

when we part company for the last time
just like we did in September
(i nearly broke down and cried)
i'll concern myself with departure.

but for now, i'm coming home.
