I started a response a few weeks ago, and I'm just going to put up what I had (the forum was misbehaving):

Well, the idea is that the middle child is forgotten in the midst of the older child who is the first to do everything and the baby of the family who gains equal recognition for being the last to do everything. So the middle child is largely inconsequential, like the earth, and has a tendency to understand the family around him because he is used to blending into the background and not really being a part of it. Apparently there are lots of psychological studies that indicate this. I was in astronomy and was noticing the small mass and positioning of the planet and how it hardly even effects the solar system like say, pluto, uranus or the sun. But we strive to understand everything, more aware of it all, although powerless.
I suppose I could expand the essay. I mean, it didn't even get into my book yet because it's still kinda raw. I have to try to elaborate more, add more substance. Alright, enough psychological evaluations and critical analysis. :) Thanks for responding, Matt.
