Subject: winter's warmth

the first day of winter is coldest
the first snowfall magically bittersweet
wonder o'ertaken by a chilly desire
to reconcile with times when cursed was the heat

as now i more notice my lips chap
my nose reddened, and my eyes wet
so too, i notice, increases my longing
for the days when earth was warmed yet

as long as i remember our summer
that reminisced my sun and light breeze
as long as your now past love warms my heart
i can smile, and happily freeze
