Subject: And what is . . .

And what is high school?
Controversies about potential boyfriends?
At least four bracelets for each arm?
Is it trips to the mall with your new license
And jobs you hate that let you pay for the gas there?
Is it Goodwill clearance racks
Or blue-tag Salvation Army sales?
Is it the clearance bin at Hot Topic
(which is the only stuff anyone can afford anyway)
Or the one at the Gap?
Is it, for the first time, having enough people like you
That you finally fit in?
Is it hair dye and silly haircuts
And making your own shirts and at-home piercings?
Or what about complaining about the four tests you have in one day?

What is high school anyway?
It's a thousand things that are completely unrelated,
It's the stuff you have, the people you know, the classes you love (or hate),
It's everything you can think of, it's being (almost) independent,
It's supposed to be the best years of your life.
But what if they weren't that great of years after all?

High school is a cliche that will never be shaken, and a thousand stereotypes that each have at least one person to confirm.

Don't take it too seriously.
