We run 3 airlcleanser with hepa filters that one replaces about every five years and another type filter on each one that needs to be replaced every few months . the air cleaners have warning lights on them letting one know which filter needs to be replace > Hepa type filtering is what good vacumn cleaners have on them . first pages are on ozone filtering such as one gets with electronic filtering . the second bunch is on uv . neither type is effective and ozone can actually add to the problem and you can read up on what you uv does from the sounds not to much . We researched this all out with the help of stuff from the drs so did what they thought best. The only type of heat that is safe for asmatics is radiant heat in floors . we do run a radiant oil electric heater in two of our bedrooms . and no our furnace is old as it is the original one when the house was built . we have only ran it a few times as even with filters on the duct work and of course filters in the furnace it still blows around dirty air .
