Well, you are probably at leasat twice as astute as the average poster; you are educated and read; you hace paid attention during your life, so that makes you a scant percentage of the population. Why is that bad?

You knowledge, when shared, benefits everybody, even the most trivial distractor, because nobody can read anything and not be influenced. Such is our nature and we can o more remain unchanged by our perceptions than a duch isn't lifted when it flaps its wings. Do ducks "know" they are flying?

Hardliners are never reversed by discussion and argument, but they are influenced, so what is bad about that? You are one of the better informed and it is obvious society needs more of you and less of us. Why should that bother you?

I also engage in manual tasks while I think about it -- whatever it is. I'm not your intellectual equal, but I still want to be heard, like anybody else, and I don't always like what I read, but I must respect the fact that somebody felt strongly enough to say it. I'm pretty sure that staying out of the discussion won't be very influential.

Keep a sense of humor; be glad you can think; and remember that the things that really matter are close at hand and probably pretty steady.

Heck, Grumpy, if the posts are too simple to contemplate, say so. Mutual admiration societies aren't very interesting, but a keen mind can always put another perspective on a given set of facts and therein is your huge advantage. I miss your ready ability to shape discussion with factual knowledge and context, just as I miss Normal's wonderful sense of fairness.

You are one of the good guys. Hope you can beat the blues!
