This is a sticky wicket.

I see our schools already having to cut back on special ed and main line the students due to lack of funds to hire enough teachers. I see over crowded class rooms and teachers stressed to the breaking point. I see teachers spending more time dragging unruly kids to the office cutting out teaching time. I see parents upset because kids are taught to rat out each other...and sometimes for money....upset because of a kid being suspended for saying something....or drawing something innocent...or writing a paper....or finding a table knife in the car and ruining a straight A students life....and given tests with questions that are no ones business....or teaching in detail gay life styles...or helping a girl get an abortion without the parents knowing....or having to play out being a Nazi for a week...

I understand the parents of America being upset with the public school system and wanting changes, and if its transferring the kid to a private school, they want to do it.

Those who won't be transferred.
The ones who's parents work and cannot drive the kid. [There will not be buses to take them, so how will they cross town to a private school?] The parents who just don't give a damn and could care less about the childs education as long as the kid is out of their hair. The kids whos parents think public school is the right choice.

I think it just might level out. Teachers in a public school will have a few less students and less stress from over crowding and can maybe teach. Special ed kids may be placed in a private school so they can stay in special ed classes and not be main lined.

Sure its all new and a good idea to some....more structure or whatever they are thinking...however, here may be many return to the public schools in the first and second year when they find out a private school is not what they needed after all.

But what do I know? We have the kids in e-school hooked up with computers to the school district. [district still gets paid for each kid] They have teachers for each subject and take tests on line and finals at the e-office building. The homework is emailed daily into the teachers. The kids are to spend 6 1/2 hours a day doing school work. Teachers are required to answer any students email asking questions that day. All state standards are met on the work. e-students are required to attend class or get togethers several times a year.

We found last year, the girls would look up more info on the net about a topic. They discussed more topics with the whole family. Skipping school or sitting in an office didn't happen. When other kids were out roaming the streets on the teachers in service days, the e-school had class that day. They had to read several novels and of course Romeo and Juliet. They had to learn how to make a Power Point Presentation for Science Lab Research Paper.

We chose e-school. A parent has to do what they think is best.
