Hey guys. I like the .45 cal colt for stoping power. It is a good weapon for that purpose and excellent for suicide. If you intend to shoot someone I don't suggest trying for the knee, leg or anything less than a gut shot. Legs are too easy to miss. A good personal weapon for personal protection is a .32 cal derrenger. Two shot style is preferable. I don't care much for hand guns myself but I do own one, the ol' lady likes it. If I were to buy a hand gun though, it would probably be the .45cal colt. I've never seen one jam.

The .17 cal rifle was made for varment shooting. Very effective on rabbits, squirrels, rats etc. It uses the same cartridge as a .22 magnam that has been necked down to .17 cal. It has a high muzzle velocity and an almost flat trajectory for 200 yards. The bullet has a plastic tip and the whole thing explodes when you hit your target. Light weight and very effective. You can carry five hundred rounds of ammo and not break a sweat. You really need a scope with this rifle.

BTW pellets are .17 cal.
