Subject: That Big Sucking Noise

continues. Remember the warning from Ross Perot? Well more and more Americans are out of work because of the companies moving to other countries.

Today Spiegel phone order says they are closing in 60 days. Rumor has it they are building a complex in Canada --- where they don't have to pay benefits like they do here.

Many people on Social Security worked at the phone center for the benefits as they were on low fixed income. They cannot meet their bills and buy the meds they need on $550 from a gov't check.

Does anyone care that so many Americans are out of work? KMart closing stores and laying off twenty some thousand, announced last week. PayLess Shoes closing. Now we have the high school kids fighting for jobs at fast foods with the older generation and others in need.

"They" keep saying the economy is improving. I don't see it. Today I was at a pharmacy inside a hospital. The hospital is closing that pharmacy the end of the month. More folks out of work.

My friend living in Illinois was laid off a month ago. He is out everyday applying for jobs in a hundred mile radius of his home. He is in his late 50's. good luck Bill!!!!

I didn't know that states give different amounts for Unemployment. Seems MO gives about 100 a week less than Illinois does. And Bill's luck...he had been working in Mo. Now they are scared they will lose their home, which has less than 8,000 left on it.

It's a very sad sad country we live in right now.
