Sometimes the bow wave just gets pretty large. Grumpy saw it first, I think, but when there is too much, then it is time to disengage. Remember, if we aren't watching and listening, then we don't know anything about most of what is going on and our knowing or not won't change a thing! Sometimes it gets that way -- a whole lot of stuff, but nothing really important.

For perspective, to our knowledge something like the Yates episode is still unusual and isolated.

Although the actions of the Bush administration might be puzzling to us, they are equally puzzling to others who are more powerful and influential than we.

Given a basic system, aberations such as Bush tend to cancel themselves out. They probably serve to remind us that weird stuff can happen.

While we may have compassion for the younger generations for what we believe they face, they are better equipped to deal with their future than are we. Nightmares are somebody's daydreams and why not?

I'm sure we each can say we did the best we could; we contributed; and we helped along the way. Really, that's all anybody can do. Millions before us have done it better and worse and we still got here.

Sometimes, too much stuff gets shoved in our faces, but only because our faces are out there and available.
