I think the elected embrace the ethic they perceive in their constituencies and that ethic demands management, not representation. It seems the voters elect people who will inflict their values, instead of representing the values of the people. Somehow, we've come to a place where people elect people who are no more capable of governing than the people themselves are.

If we started arguing that the job is to represent, not inflict, people might start seeing their vote differently. But, we are also being influenced by the day care generation and I'm afraid they are deeply conditioned to have somebody in charge. It is as if we're no longer a country, but some sort of High School where the jocks have taken over or a congregation which refuses to acknowledge the world outside the walls.

I just don't know. Today was a tough one, watching the repukes invent a hero out of Reagan while inventing villains out of the Democrats. I think I'm most amazed at their complete lack of ethics and complete disregard for meaningful discussion of the issues, but that is exactly how their constituents are, so it works.

Too bad the democrats don't have a forum so they can politicize everything that happens, exactly like the repukes are doing all the time. Today, I'll bet Fox News had ten repukes on to comment about everything and not one failed to take the opportunity to cheerlead for Bush. It gets to be sickening.
