I was discussing a show about mary magdeline at work and It said jesus may have been in love with her. A UBF disciple at work freaked out and yelled "jesus only came to die!". To say the least I was shocked by this statement from a otherwise mild manner person.

Well, I'm not going to argue about Mary's attraction to Jesus and whether He also was attracted to her on a different basis than spirituality.
But I can most definitely say that "Jesus did NOT only come to die", but to give a pattern, of the firstborn Son of God, for us to follow. Jesus lived a perfectly divine-human life in the presence of God the Father, in the reality of the Holy Spirit, in harmony with creation. Jesus came to show us this pattern.

Jesus raised disciples not in order to die, but to show them what "real life" is all about. I doubt that He'd commit fornication or adultery, but I do not doubt that He had proper relationships with people around Him.
Jesus wasn't a wacko who lived in a cloud castle and only had a mission to accomplish.

However, this is what UBF tries to make you believe: do your mission, regardless of reality. If you're not in harmony with the universe, who cares, God wants only to see you do your mission.

If you think about it, the Al-Quaeda guys on the 9/11 airplanes had exactly this mindset, and it's brainwashing in perfection.

Maybe you can have peace by realizing that UBF doesn't produce spiritually mature Christians but brainwashed zealots who have no clue about the reality of the Christian life.
They do not represent Christian religion, and probably not even their own faith, they repesent a cult.

In Christ,
Mike K.
