Also, the state is actually offending the former members by doing so. Please read the following sentence from the article: "The court supported the position taken by lawyers for Jehovah's Witnesses that reports from people who had left that society were unreliable."

If you study contendingforthefaith.org, you will find that the cult's hand-for-hire Gordon Melton has drawn up EXACTLY this line of defense in protection of the "Local Church" movement centered around Witness Lee.

"Ex-members are disgruntled people who exaggerate their experiences and as such, are not credible"

It's so easy to make such a sweeping statement, but I love the bitter irony that comes up in the "Local Church", because probably a good 99% of Local Church "currents" are ex-members of "the denominations" (any church outside the LC) and we're to believe their testimony that "denominations are bad, but the LC is so good", do you smell the irony of having to take the word of an ex-member of a denomination that ex-members of any given group are unreliable sources of information about the group?

Anyway, I just wanted to chip this in because this line of defense is so common.

We see it even in UBF, when you leave UBF, your testimony is all of a sudden exaggerated and distorted, but while you are IN UBF, your testimony is "soo....ooooooooo graceful". Even though the only thing that has changed is neither your honesty, your experiences or so, but just your point of view.
But a different point of view disqualifies you, because you have put off your rosed glasses, which are necessary to see "the Truth".

In Christ,
Mike K.
