Subject: Disciplining children

You know I have a child and I want to discipline him in the nurture and admonition of the Lord at Ephesians says. However, sometimes it's so hard for me to discern when I'm having issues of control and power and when it's really important for my son that I enforce obedience. I think we are to obey God at all times-does that mean being legalistic?
For example, my son wanted to watch the Tigger movie. I told him, "No, I only want to watch Christian movies on Sunday". However, I wonder if I was just being grumpy because I think he wants to watch that movie because we are not a typical family and he longs for one and I didn't want to see that. Sometimes I wonder if my mind is just playing games with me.
Then my son complained about my cooking and I said, "Just eat it without complaining". Then I just kept getting angry and picky and then I wonder if I'm being legalistic and there are other issues going on that have nothing to do with obedience.
