Chris ,cant you see that my 1% remark was about a beginning, all changes begin small. Its how they end.

But that's what I tried to explain. In a church or in Christian life, if you recognized something is sinful, you repent and make a radical change, not a 1% change.

Did you read what Zacheus did when he recognized that his cheating people was a sin?

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

He did not say: "Ok, I will cheat a little bit less next year."

The word "repentance" means to "turn round", i.e. by 180 degrees, not by 1 degree.

In the church, it is not acceptable that you compromize with sin. Even 1% leaven is too much if you are not willing to put it away.

Again, we are speaking here about a church that claims to be "God's ministry" and we are speaking about leaders who claim to be "God's servants" and demand God-like authority in the lives of the church members. In such a situation, you need to measure with a much higher standard.

Also, we are not talking about mistakes or bad habits. We are talking about sins like forcing abortions or the covering up and silently tolerating such actions or not caring at all about these things. These grave sins can only be dealt with through repentance, not by slight corrections. Even if the 2nd gens would do it better, if they don't care about history and processsing it they are condemned to repeat it.

Again, a ministry that claims to be "God's ministry" must be measured with God's measurestick. Remember these are people who demand "Obey me like you obey God." We are talking about spiritual things here, not about political developments or something like that.

What did Jesus expect from the churches he talked about in Revelation? Did he say "you need to change a little bit, step by step?" No, he said: "Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place."
