Well I for one understood what ts meant by merry mass.
Why shouldn't we have a bit of creative language for a change. I was working on Christmas day. It is very difficult to take the Christ out of Christmas in Saudi because there is no Christmas to take it out of.
So after finishing work four of us jumped into a car raced to the Saudi border crossed into Bahrain, mid afternoon,
long after the services at Bahrain ubf had finished. We celebrated a very comercial Christmas, in a bar called Warblers, with a buffet dinner and were entertained by an ageing Indian supposedly Elvis lookalike singer. (he was excellent) We had all the traditional Christmas food, mince pies and Christmas pudding from Lebanan, very different but still good. We watched an excellent live soccer match between two of South Africas top teams on a giant screen, drank some Irish whiskey and a few glasses of guiness.(the nearest I could get to being spirit filled) This is not the type of Chrismas that I would choose if I had a choice. But living out here I really needed the break, and I have to admit I enjoyed it. The title of Mary Angelous most famous novel, "I know why the caged bird sings" gives a clue about life here. In my situation Merry Mas is a bit of creative writing which made me smile. Here we need all the smiles we can get.
