In reply to: Mercedes (comment on McCain and the presidential debate delay) 's message, "Surprise! I'm home this evening..." on Wed, September 24, 2008 5:26:07

But at least he's changing somewhat the one-sided position of letting Paulson take charge of $700 Billion. Why can't the Congress just ask Paulson how much he'll need for the next few weeks or months, instead of grabbing the whole $700 Billion in one transaction?

I mean, can Paulson justify using the whole $700 Billion in the next few days? Will the world collapse in a burnt cinder if the whole $700 Billion isn't put up front?

Why didn't Bush say that this should be a LOAN and not a Bailout? A LOAN means that the money WILL be paid back, with interest, no matter how long it takes. A Bailout means that this money is being given upfront with NO guarantee of getting ANY money back.

If the Congress gets its act together then a short-term solution should be able to be found before Friday evening's debate.

If McCain chooses to stay in Washington, even if the problem is being worked out by members of Congress, then we'll all know that McCain is just too chicken to face Obama when it counts!

I'll be back at work tomorrow and should be able to post a message on Sunday morning. I guess we'll know by then what happens with the Bailout and with the Debate.

Love,
Mercedes
