Mercedes (tiny message inside for Obitchecker) (Hi, Miss Scarlett! The fun will be starting soon. You'll be running around and your parents will be exhausted, trying to keep up with you...)

I woke up late today, right before 10:00am, and I put off doing any of the cooking for the week until this afternoon. I'm still barbecuing chicken--my last thing to do before I leave for SA.

I watched "Meet the Press" rerun earlier this afternoon on MSNBC. I thought it was quite interesting that Rachel Maddow was seated right next to that fellow Dick Armey, who resigned from his job, because of what she found out--that he was lobbying for the insurance companies, plus other things, in an attempt to stop Obama from trying to make healthcare reform.

Obitchecker, I KNOW that Obama is everyone's President, but when the Republicans are all playing like 'pull the plug on grandma' and 'don't touch my Medicare' baloney, how can Obama even work with them? He's trying to make this a bi-partisan deal, but he can't do it if one side refuses to even budge on anything.

I'm not even going to get started with what Bush did. We can see the results of his 8 years in office. All I know is, that I was NOT surprised to read that the rich and super rich almost Tripled their total assets, while the rest of us got stuck with paying all the bills--all occurring during Bush's two terms in office.

I know that when Congress comes back in session after Labor Day, there is going to be a final meeting between Obama and the Republicans. If the Repubs want to play like ostriches with their heads in the sand, so be it. But Obama IS going to get healthcare reform passed, because he knows that Medicare is going broke and the Baby Boomers are beginning to retire and there won't be enough money in a few more years to pay off all these retirees, what with that and the Social Security benefits they'll be tapping into.

I have not heard any Republican offer to give another, more better option than what Obama is planning on reform. All I've been hearing is 'death panels' and 'pull the plug on grandma'. Why are they so TERCO (stubborn)? Can't they figure out that if nothing is done NOW then forget about everything later?

Still very, very hot here in South Texas. I see that the hurricanes are starting to form in the Atlantic. Wouldn't you know that one of my middle names is: ANA. My husband said I sometimes act like a hurricane, so it's an interesting co-incidence about the name. LOL

I wish everyone a Safe and Happy week, and remember to drink lots of water before you go outside or do any outside jobs. These are the 'Dog Days of Summer' and that sun can dehydrate you quicker than you think...

Love,
Mercedes
