In reply to: Take it to the bank! 's message, "I think that both the M.C. person and Hillary should be fed Mercede's spiked Borracho beans. For flavor, add milk and vinegar and V8!" on Sat, May 10, 2008 2:09:16

Ingredients:
1 - 5 oz. jar Tejano salsa, mild, medium or hot. If salsa is not available, you may use seltzer instead
1 - 16 oz. jar of milk or buttermilk
4 - 5.5 oz. cans pinto beans (flavored with slab bacon)
1 - small onion chopped (use green onions for added color: some people call them scallions but they are really green onions)
2 - Tbsp. salt
1 - small bundle cilantro chopped (remove half of the stems and put them in a vase)
1 - Tbsp. sugar or corn syrup
1 - Tbsp. Ovaltine
1 - Sprinkling of any combination of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
2 - Tsp. Heinz Ketchup
1 - Tsp. garlic powder (to taste) note: have mouthwash handy for people who will have garlic breath
1 soft-boiled egg
Ritz crackers

Directions:
Put everything into a pot and bring to a boil for approx. 10 min. Use a thermometer to assure the temperature is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. You can add the cilantro last or add the other ingredients first. Add the ketchup whenever you wish. Heinz is slow so you will be anticipating for a while. Stir carefully through the day and see how the flavor stays. This is the soup you'll savor.

These soup is outstanding and easy to make and your guests will think you've been cooking all day! They will notice the very different taste.

Mercedes is the Borracho Bean expert so she should have the final say. My advice, though, reading the mix of ingredients is simply DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! (Your post is a joke, right?)IMDLSun, May 11, 2008 6:57:53
