The rules of Barbara's other board (and I assume this one) are:
NO harassment, name calling, obscenity or foul language, threats, racist comments or ALL CAPS and anything else I find personally offensive. Use of your real name is optional, but impersonating another poster is not acceptable.
I have not violated any of them. It says "Use of your real name is optional." I would prefer to use neither my real name nor the forum name which I previously posted under, because .....
I exchanged emails with a few people here. If I reveal who I am then my friend's identity might become known. I am basically going public with what is really a private matter, because I am so upset at what my friend told me. In fact, as a result of this, I have called my own physician. I am taking a medication for my diabetes and I have some questions about it. (Hopefully he will return my call this weekend or I will have to call back on Monday.)
Tommy, your question is valid. However I hope you will respect my desire for privacy. I don't know anything about YOU except your name here. It doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I can post something which MIGHT be helpful to someone.
If you feel that what I posted is suspect because I choose not to reveal myself, then simply IGNORE it. All I can tell you is that it is 100 percent true.
I would like everything else to remain private about my friend's circumstance, including the nature of her disease and (beyond what I revealed in my other post) the status of her health.
If Peggy or Barbara thinks my message is inapporpriate, they can easily delete it. I just felt that it might help others.
Another reason for not using a name is that it would make me more open to flaming from people. My statement is very critical of one doctor in particular and several others in general. I don't want to start a flame war.
On the other hand I want people to know (including YOU Tommy) that you DO have choices when it comes to your own health. You are not a robot. And if a doctor tells you to do something or take something and you have a problem with it, you should QUESTION him and consider going to someone else if you are not satisfied in any way with his answers or with following his instructions.
