I've just finished catching up on the posts here.
Doris, have you googled PNAC (Project for the New American Century)? This Neo-Con dream is basically to have the US of A rule the WORLD, trying to take over using the US military, US "morality" and the US "democracy" to keep everyone on the planet in the same boat--a ONE WORLD ORDER. THIS is what you have to be afraid of, NOT Barack Obama, the minister of his church, or that Barack may be a Muslim in disguise.
There are some troublemakers here at the board that want to stir up feelings of anger and fear; and I'm not going to sit by and let them do it.
Like Barack said, his minister is like an old Uncle who gives his opinions bluntly, even if some don't like what he says. In a way the minister is correct--the US has done its share of bombings in the world, and we haven't really cared who died, just so long as we thought we were right. People don't want to hear anyone say the TRUTH, and many will close their eyes and will either hate the messenger or act like everything is fine and dandy at that everyone loves the US. Plain old wishful thinking and not facing reality.
In May, 2007, Bush signed a Presidential Directive, basically giving him exclusive authority of the US Government--all three branches (Judicial, Executive, and Legislative (Congress), if he even THINKS that the US is in danger of a terrorist attack. He's given himself the power to CANCEL the Presidential Election this November and the power to declare MARTIAL LAW. He's even got Chertoff as his right-hand man; ready to mobilize US troops, or Blackwater security forces in every capital of every state in the Union. BUT, this is just writing on a piece of paper. I'm positive if Bush tries to pull this stunt and declare Martial Law and the 2008 elections void, that he won't be able to get away with it. But it's just the THOUGHT that he even had the "cojones" (balls) to ever think up this crap that worries me. WHAT ELSE has he done to us? How many other "presidential directives" are out there, waiting for us to discover? Bush is losing it in his mind--BIG TIME. He's not even in the same orbit of this planet anymore. He's dreaming crazy dreams of ruling the world, and being the number one "compassionate conservative" and having everyone and everything under his rule while he becomes the "Great White Daddy" ruler of all of us.
You may think I'm being over-dramatic, but I know that THIS is the most dangerous thing to worry about--what our Government can do to US, NOT what radical Islamic terrorists can do to us. Though, the terrorists sure are noticing how bad our US security still is--all the Billions and Billions we've spent on Homeland (Fatherland) Security; and for what? We still are not prepared for another terrorist attack, either from foreign enemies OR from the home-grown enemies that are US born and bred--ready to attack from within...
