Subject: Just a yawn (Shockwave #1)

{At a Pheonix Promotion House Show, the crowd quiets as a fog slowly rolls into the arena. It swirls around the ring and at the top of the ramp. Suddenly, “Sweet Dreams” hits over the PA system. A huge figure can be seen behind the mist at the top of the ramp. The figure walks through the mist, and the crowd gives a mix of boos and cheers at the arrival of Springheel Jack! Jack makes his way down to the ring, his International Title draped over his shoulder. He stands in the middle of the ring and raises his hands to the ceiling. Fog seems to pour out of those hands.}

Rip: Springheel Jack has returned! We haven’t heard from him since he attacked Jack Hammer over three weeks ago!

Springheel Jack: You know, since the return of Paul Maxx and the formation of The Awakening, there’s been a whole lot of talk backstage and out here. It seems that everyone and their mother has an opinion on Paul, and they’ve all decided to weigh in on those opinions each and every night. It’s no secret that Paul Maxx doesn’t have a whole lot of friends here, but what I don’t get is why not a single person has commented on the friends that he does have. Those pitiful excuses for wrestlers that he’s used to add some numbers to The Awakening. Of course, I’m talking about my no-talent opponent at Shockwave, Jack Hammer.

{A mixed reaction at the name drop}

Springheel Jack: You know, ever since I watched my first Pheonix Promotion match almost three years ago, I’ve dreamed about competing at Shockwave. I’ve dreamed about the arena, filled to capacity, taking to their feet as I make my way down to the ring to battle it out on the biggest show of the year. That I’d be defending my International Title only makes the reality of this dream that much better. But you know what puts a damper on my dream? The fact that I will be facing off against an opponent as undeserving and as untalented as Jack Hammer! Jack, I wanted a challenge at Shockwave. I wanted to prove myself as the most dominant Singles Champion in the Pheonix Promotion today on the biggest stage there is, at Shockwave! But what’s kicking the hell out of you going to prove? You’re nothing, Jack Hammer. I know it, you know, all these people know it. Hell, Paul Maxx himself knows it! Why else would he have asked you to join up with him, Jack? He knows that The Awakening is a dead-end. He knows that the group is going no where. He just wanted some back-up for his first few matches back in the Pheonix Promotion. That’s why he went after you, Jack. Not for your skill, but because he simply knew that you would say yes. He knew you would join up with him, because you figure that having The Awakening behind you would make you more intimidating. More of a force to be reckoned with. But let me tell you this, Jack Hammer, we’ve been dancing for quite some time now, and just because you’ve invited a few friends to the dance, that doesn’t mean that I’m no longer the one who’s leading. You see, Jack, it doesn’t matter if Paul Maxx and The Kingpin step into the ring with you against me at Shockwave. I could tear apart each and every member of Awakening, and I wouldn’t even think twice about it. You think you boys in Awakening are tough, intimidating, dominating? Hell, the only thing The Awakening does to me is make me yawn. And why shouldn’t it? After all, I am The International Champion. I am the Most Dominant Singles Champion in the Promotion! If I wanted to, I could come back there right now, march right into your locker room and-….

{With that, “Wait n Bleed” hits over the PA system. The crowd goes nuts as NoBody steps out onto the ramp, his Tag Team Title draped over his shoulder.}

Rip: That’s NoBody! He’s here! He’s here!

Smash: And he’s heading down to the ring. Springheel Jack isn’t leaving. He’s staring at NoBody. NoBody is staring right back at the International Champion. What in the hell is going to happen here?
