No NIT bid for any Patriot League team. Congratulations to BU and Niagara for their bids. Some of you think we should not leave the PL for any thing other than a mulit-bid conference. Sorry, I guess that a league that can but a team in the NIT is worth exploring, especially when the PL champion is relagated to the PIG. The attendance at the PL final says it all... no wonder the NIT did not come calling.

I think the PL could send a team to the NIT but so what?

Don't you think that if last year's HC team had gotten upset in the PL tournament that we would have gotten a bid to the NIT? I certainly do.

So whether anyone goes to the NIT would have more to do with the individual team's results. Win 22 games or so overall and miss the NCAA due to an upset in the PL tourney and I think any PL would be going to the NIT. But this year was a year of balance (or medicority?) in the PL.

That's how BU and URI are going to the NIT this year. They didn't win their respective tournaments but had solid years otherwise.

If you can't win in the PL, how can you think you belong in a stronger league. Instead of complaining about the PL, complain about HC. If you don't even win the PL, you have no one or league to blame except yourself. The fact is that with American, Colgate, Bucknell and Lehigh now giving BB scholarships the playing field has been leveled and it will be more difficult than in the past for you to succeed in BB. IMHO it will be three years before HC has a chance to again be atop the PL.

I beleive you're incorrect in your analysis. The PL would not be looked upon favorably by the NIT because it has no fan base. Outside of the Cross, what team in the PL has a significant following in BBall? The NIT picks good teams for obvious reasons but the rest of its tournament if filled with teams that will fill seats, which lets all PL teams, save the Cross which is spending its inheritance, out of the equation.

Siena will always get a home game in the NIT if they win 20 and do not win the MAAC. Why, because they will fill the seats in Albany. Sorry, outside of those of us you post on this board and are diehard HC fans, there is simply no interest in PL bball. Has anyone done an analysis of attendance at PL games? I think it would be pretty shocking, especially Colgate's and remember, in NCAA they count the season ticket holdrs as present whether there or not (the tourney games require actual presence to be counted). Sorry, PL and the type of fan base that brings an NIT invitation are mutually exclusive. I think this is going to only get worse when the PL goes to the on campus tourney next year. That will drive attendance and interest down even more.
