you bring a much-needed perspective to the board, particularly on the economic and vibrancy issues. I was living in Worcester at the time of the vote on the Centrum and remember that it passed by only 12 votes. Remember a naysayer named Doris Huard who led the opposition. Once it was passed and built, I've heard nothing but good things about the Centrum and the Galleria. The same mentality is at play with the admin and the PL. With the two quality hoop coaches that we have, give us 2-3 yrs. in the A-10 and IMHO you would see HC at its highest competitive level since the Potter/Vicens/Perry Jr. era and at its highest level in fan interest, including some big crowds at the Centrum. With all due respect to Gate Raider, the jump in leagues would allow HC to recruit at the high major level(A-10 has been consistently rated as one of the top 10 conferences in the last 5-6 yrs.). I like the chances for HC to be competitive in that league quickly. I don't see any real edge for half the A-10 teams(St. Bona, Duquesne, Fordham, LaSalle, Umass & Geo. Washington) over HC right now and that's with the current PL status. In addition, HC was 9th in the country in scoring defense and 24th in FG pct. defense and played competitively with Louisville, Manhattan, BC and BU with players out of action in each of those games. No other PL team could have (or did) match that non-conference performance. Unfortunately, the lack of shooting(from both the floor and the FT line)caused HC to trail in too many games and come up short. In short, I agree with tonyt---those who are chuckling over HC's downfall this yr. should enjoy it while they can. Look for next yr's club to step up as the '00-'01 team did after an 18 loss season in '99-'00 with essentially the same players--offensively-challenged in RW's first yr. and not so in his second.

HC also lost to 6-22 Marist, 6-21 St. John's and Div. 3 Williams. How many other PL teams matched that non-conference performance?
