They are lucky that this decision came out after the close of the Annual Fund.

It's time for Regan to step-down, he has been a total zero since coming on board.

I'm not aware that any AD in HC history has had the power to build or expand facilities or to ultimately make a decision whether or not to grant athletic scholarships or upgrade a program. This isn't Ohio State where Andy Geiger can do pretty much what he pleases (within reason).

Suppose Dick wanted to do everything you wanted him to do to get this ECAC bid and the college president and/or the Board responded "no." Should he quit his job, on principle? Maybe he should. Would you?

The bottom line is, this probably wasn't Dick's doing. At some point you know there will be a press release or press conference in which HC's position will be made known. When we hear HC's side to this story, then we MIGHT start building the gallows for the right people.

I have to agree, somewhat, with the last poster.

Otherwise, Mr. Perry should have quit 10 times over

Whoa tim, personally I'd cut Ron Perry, Sr. a little more slack than that.

AIR ( and admittedly this is basic recall ), he and Blaney were not initially 100%, fist-pounding the table sure that Gavitt's plan for a new East Indy conference was a lock for success. As the then succeeding days passed I think they became increasingly enthralled with the concept but again AIR, Gavitt's time table to act/make a decision and move on this didn't jive with their ( including Brooks ) desire to chew on it a bit longer. Later, he and Blaney became believers but it was then Brooks who continued to stall until ultimately rejecting the invite over Perry's and Blaney's wishes.

Regards the now INFAMOUS Colonial/Patriot shocker, remember that it was a pure UNILATERAL decision by Brooks and that Perry WAS NOT involved. In the months that followed, Perry made it very clear what his role was ( or lack of one ! ) in this radical de-emphasis of the football program. His quotes in the T&G, Boston Globe and Boston Herald, while diplomatically worded, were in essence borderline insubordinant and I suspect anyone of lesser stature than he would have been requested to resign.

I've gradually become disenchanted with Dick Regan. His resume' was/is superb and I thought he'd be a proactive AD with a definite eye toward a graceful exit/U-turn away from the Patriot League. I was wrong.

While I agree with sader1970 that Regan doesn't call the shots/have the final say on major things like this budding ECAC fiasco, he is nonetheless the 'point man' for HC athletics and thus subject to accountability and the current ridicule. To date, I've yet to hear him speak other than in terms of the 'party line' that passes thru his lips from the ULTIMATE decision maker(s)....McFarland and the Trustees.
