Of course, as we all know, this is because the exams at Holy cross are harder!

Willard will have his work cut out for him. Is the knock on him still the fact that he has recruiting shortcomings?
Other PL coaches are passing him by and have pulled out all stops. Scholarships at Bucknell, Colgate, American and others, are balancing out the lowly rated PL. International players, D-I drop downs, etc. are showing up more and more on opponents rosters. Ralph needs to do better on that front to remain competitive, especially with a fully scholarshipped squad. Regardless, common belief is that he's here to stay as long as he wants. Not so sure that's a good thing. Anyone know when his contract is up?

While Coach W is not irreplaceable, I find it absurd that you would question whether his staying at alma mater for as long as he desires is a bad thing. The man has done wonders for the program and continues to do so.

The question that should be asked is, are certain programs being allowed extra leeway by their administrations to catch up and move ahead in the PL recruiting wars. Based on some of the kids that certain other schools (not all by any means) have and continue to bring in, it appears that the answer to this question is yes. Admittedly though, I do want to know more about what people know or think Doherty's future potential and contribution level will be, which is extremely speculative on our parts.

That being said, other PL teams are not standing still as it pertains to recruiting and we need to make sure that our coaching staff is doing their best to bring in the best kids for HC, which I have every confidence that they are.

It will be interesting to see how Coach W. alots his upcoming scholarships for next year's class seeing that he will have 5 to give. I for one hope he only gives 3, maybe 4 at max, in an effort to rebalance the classes. Whatever the decision is, I would argue that Coach W. and his staff have the potential to bring in a VERY strong class seeing that our name recognition has gone up markedly since this year's graduating class entered.

Cheers.

I am in agreement with HC1843, RW is doing a fine job and I hope he stays a long time. The problem is in the admissions office, those people should get with the program and help out our coaches who work so hard trying to bring in athletes who are interested in the Cross.

That is in accord with the initial publicity release when Coach Willard's contract was signed, as I have pointed out before here.

"My bad" as they say. The initial release stated that Coach Willard signed a six-year contract in the spring of 1999. Hence his contract ends after the 2005 season.
