Quinnipiac and Holy Cross are the two schools left standing as the ECAC decides how many, if any, schools to invite into its league. The ECAC has been contemplating expansion since Vermont announced its intention to leave the league for Hockey East as of 2005-06. School officials at Mercyhurst and Niagara both say they were told by ECAC officials this weekend that they were out of the running. Sources indicate that Sacred Heart was told the same thing.
