Subject: Quinnipiac University

Holy Cross lacks conviction and commitment. Their "application" to the ECAC is a perfect example. You guys are Ivy League wannabes and willneverbes. You got taken for a ride when be coerced into forming the Patriot League for the sole reason the the Ivy League still had enough football teams to play. Your administration is saturated with suckers. Quinnipiac has made great strides over the past decade and will surpass Holy Cross athletically and academically over the next decade. I can't wait to hear all of you start crying. Let the chirping begin. Go QU!!!

There is absolutely no comparison between you guys and HC, in any way. Moreover, QU is in nowhere near the same league, in any way, as any other member of the ECAC Hockey Conference. This is an awful decision.

"You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear," as the old saw goes.

Before you count the coins you think you have in that purse, QU Observer, remember a couple of things. The recommendation of the ECAC Hockey Committee is not the "final" decision. It must still be approved by the ECAC Policy Committee.

Second, Holy Cross has 2 titles ( 1 MAAC and 1 Atlantic) with no hockey scholarships and Quinnipiac has 1 title with 11 scholarships. Slop on that for a while.

Also, I won more games as an HC hockey player against ECAC teams during just one year of my career than QU has in their entire history. Correct me if I'm wrong, but QU has won just one game against ECAC foes.

Since we only beat one ECAC team and you beat more ECAC teams in one season than we did in history, then I'm guessing that means you beat two ECAC teams in one season and two in history. Hmmmm, did you beat Union and St. Lawrence? If so, nice wins. Now try to beat the real teams in the ECAC. Let's face it, our admin has a real commitment to advancing QU. Yours simply expects to be given things because you think you're something you're not....Ivy caliber. You're a religious school. That will always hold you back from where you think you should be.

Have anything to to with it. BY ANY MEASURE, the QC-HC comparison is akin to Monmouth (NJ)-Princeton, Drexel-UPenn, or St. Francis (NY)- Notre Dame. Come on. The ECAC decision is a travesty.

I don't blame the QU poster for being a little hot headed here as some of the posts below are less than flattering to the Q. I grew up near Hamden CT (Quinnipiac's location) and in the 1970's Quinnipiac was a sleepy little school hardly on the map and very easy to get into. Because it was local to me, I have kept up with its impressive growth and progress over the last 3 decades. Its rise rivals that of BC (which was a commuter school in the 70's and is at least on a par with HC today. By saying this I don't mean that the Q is at BC's level but it started at a lot lower level than did BC). Qunnipiac is pumping lots of money into its striking campus, has a new law school and is aggressively advertising for students--they run a regular add on Boston Radio stations. Several of my son's class mates (I live in Mass. now) applied and a couple are going to Quinnipiac next year -- something that never would have happened 10 years ago. Its basketball program is on the rise as are its other sports. Granted, its academics are far from a Patriot League level but it is on an upward trend and bears watching.
