I recommend that you email the admissions department but then again, those emails are all too often ignored...and I can't blame them b/c the HC admissions web site is such a piece of...that ignoring the problem just has to be easier than looking into a solution.

Since none of us, to my knowledge, is Park Smith in disguise, we will just have to deal with getting snubbed.

I am still waiting for some higher up in the Admissions Dept explain why our site is so outdated, lackluster, mediocre, etcetera, etcetera. I'd love to hear the excuses...err I mean reasoning behind the state of the site...maybe we don't want the best and brightest applying to Holy Cross anymore. Maybe we want kids these days who will be satisfied by the mediocre (I am being kind) image that the Admissions page puts forward. I mean, who cares how our peers are selling themselves, just as long as we fell comfortable without doing too much (if anything) to improve upon our current site...who really gets hurt anyway???!!!

With a $400 million+ endowment, the excuse/myth of a resource gap should be summarily rejected when given.

Cheers.

At the risk of adversely affecting what is a cordial relationship with the Director of Admissions, I will tell you that IMO what criticisms you voice will have no effect because it is the way she wants it to be. I know this isn't news to you because you have been on message on this point along with several others for the past few years at least.

NTKHC64, you have an outstanding memory - although the admissions' angle doesn't explain why the rest of site is just as bad and the worst in the PL --

It's easy to nitpick but take a look at the picture that appears on the extreme right of the webpage. It shows a young man at Commencement talking on a cell phone. Written on the bottom of the photo is "Commencement '04." One problem: The number on his tassel is "03." It has been up there for a week or two. You'd think someone would've corrected this by now as I'm sure there are plenty of '04 pix to replace it.

good catch - all of us are not nitpicking -- the site is not kept up to date by a long shot -- ten-year old info. on "How HC Measures Up" is really silly -- and it's not like the admissions stats aren't made public in other guidebooks, etc -- there is simple no excuse for not keeping alums abreast of the selectivity of the school not to mention putting a little effort into graphics, etc. to spice the site up a bit -- the athletic page is just as abysmal as admissions

The webpage no longer contains the photo mentioned above. I wonder if someone in Information Technology actually reads this or whether it is just a coincidence.

Seriously though, I bet a lot of fans/administrators at HC know about this site and some probably post regularly.

Now, we just need Fr. McFarland to become a regular and who knows what might happen next. NTK, in your correspondence w/administrators at the school, have you ever emailed/called Fr. McFarland to toss some ideas around?

Cheers.

Innumerable times but the majority deal with non-athletic topics. My policy is never to reveal what is said/written.

On a personal note, how was the first year of law school experience?

It went very well albeit in a mad rush at times. I have made some great friends, developed good professional relationships, made moot court and I am happy with my academic performance. I am currently doing research with a professor, enjoying a relaxing summer and training our newest puppy not to pee on the rug. What more can a man ask for!?

For more info, drop me a line at HC1843@hotmail.com.

Cheers.
