Actually, I think that by positioning Holy Cross in the list with our peers (highly selective, national liberal arts colleges), it enhances our identity as the only Jesuit institution in the United States exclusively dedicated to undergraduate education. This in turn aids us in our competition with Georgetown, BC, and Fordham, because it emphasizes what makes Holy Cross unique, different from them, and more desirable for an undergraduate.

supports the admin party line that permits HC to be one of three Jesuit "league solos" (BC and Creighton are the others) in a league that is ranked 9 places lower in the RPI
rankings than the next lowest league(MAAC) with a Jesuit school member. If we don't espouse some convoluted logic
regarding uniqueness, there is no underpinning for supporting the differences in leagues from G'town (or a Big East BC, Fordham & Xavier). Jesuit commonality be damned. That and history and academic tradition don't support the argument. Let's focus on "college vs. university" status to put us in this league where the pre-1990 games vs.
the league opponents other than Army and Colgate were minimal.
