Hi!
I know that I am doing things a little bit different sometime but having been on other A/C where they had a cool down period for their APU, I am doing the same on the CRJ.
I remove the load for a while go on with other checks and when I don't forget I shut the APU down. It is the same principle I have applied for the flaps in the past when the speed were 230 230 197 and 191 I used to lower them at speed much lower than max speed.
Very impressive the comments we get from "Jos connaît tout" sometime saying that it doesn't hurt to go from 680* to shut-off with no cooling. Why don't we do the same with the engine instead of waiting 2 min at idle power.
In the past,
We have been switching APR off below -18 and 1000" for not overboosting the engine for the first 21/2 years of operation.
When the real story came out nobody did bother explaining what had happened, being too embarassed for their huge mistakes. The article I wrote was very polite for once, it was just informative. It was never published in the CRJ journal and I could go on and on because I am like the bunny with the Energizer batteries. I have been there over 6 years now. After hating that A/C so much, I am starting to like it now. Isn't it scary?
