"Thanks... Yeah, he was happy I was there." Especially with how things had gone down with her and her mom, her dad just seemed to be growing more and more protective of her the older she got - he was really good about not being smothering, but he liked to be informed, and he liked to see her as often as possible even though it was summer. She counted herself lucky though - she would take a pitbull of a father over her weasel of a mother any day. "Well, see, he tells me they caught stuff but then let it go again, or ate it... So there's never any proof. I bet they just sit in the sun and drink beer and then come back and tell me they were hard at work fishing the whole time..." Her dad wasn't an extreme outdoorsman or anything like that, but he worked such long hours in the office that he loved just getting out of town and going somewhere quiet - plus it gave him a chance to visit with the boys, usually the older ones, who were starting to get pretty busy with their own lives these days, so at least they got to catch up a bit. She rambled on easily about what her dad had had to say to her - she really was a very forgiving girl and had let go the poor mood that he had been in that morning. She wouldn't always be so understanding, and she didn't consider herself a pushover at all, but she was fair and she knew that his frustration - whatever it had been about - hadn't been directed at her. Walking back across the beach with him, her free hand brushed over the small of his back lightly - his hands were full but she was just happy to be touching him. "Hey, you okay?" The question was asked a little bit more seriously - she didn't need him to explain anything to her if he didn't want to, and he seemed like he was feeling a bit better than earlier, but she just wanted to check in...
