To say that she'd looked better was an understatement. After nearly 12 long hours of labor, they had become parents, but it had not been without pain and struggle. Mali was sure she had never hated Danny or felt so much pain in her entire life, and they had all been concerned and worn furrows in their brow as they looked over her, concerned. The end result had not been so serious as they had imagined, but she was exhausted, frayed, her hair fuzzed and her brow still salty from sweat and tears, but she was triumphant, holding the tiny baby boy that they had made. She cradled him close to her chest, nearly moved to tears as she looked up at Danny. It might have been exhaustion or hormones, but she was considerably weepier than she had ever been in her life.
