Subject: Alumni Assn vs Mavericks Club

Regarding Alumni Association and Mavericks Club, 80s Alum said:
"I have joined both (doesn't cost much), although quite frankly I don't understand exactly what the Maverick Club accomplishes.

I also have a graduate degree from TCU, never joined anything over there, and get 10 to 1 mailings fron TCU to UTA's."

I can't reply on the other forum from work, so I wanted to do so here.
1. As to the first question, The Mavericks Club exists primarily to support and help underwrite UTA athletics. The Alumni Association supports UTA in general. Even as a member of the Athletics chapter of the Alumni Association, (formerly the ex-letterman's club) only about half of my contribution goes to athletics.
2. Yes, UTA doesn't beg with the persistence of other universities and alumni organizations. I imagine that will change.
