Oh, but it had been awhile. A long while. Yet he felt he had been gone no more than a day. But little as the passage of time felt to him, it showed greatly to his eyes as he entered his realm. He entered it properly, through the gate house. Only one other time had he come this way. The other times it had been with his father, Ferdie, the infamous alpha, and regent of the late queen. If only his name could be so honored and so respected as had his been - at least among his friends. Among his enemies, precious little was liked of him. With his "light" ways, merciful ways, and kind heart, the evils despised him. Especially when he thwarted them again and again. But as the great do, he passed on when Kaiyn was but a few months old. He had left nothing behind but his family: his mate Calprei, and her four pups, Kaiyn and his twin Kayn, and their brother and sister.

And of them, only Kaiyn was known as accomplishing anything. His twin, Kayn, was around, but he wasn't sure where. She popped up every now and then. His mother Calprei had died, not long after Ferdie himself has passed away. The other siblings he didn't know what had happened to them, but neither had he been close to them. A twinge of guilt ran through him at his uncaring thoughts for them, but he shrugged it away. It had always been him and Kayn. Never the others. And then she had slowly slipped from his life as well, and he'd been on his own. A rogue until he'd stumbled onto Camelot. With its roaming landscape, huge gardens and airy castle, he'd grown attatched to it, and the female in charge of it. It hadn't taken long for him to grow close enough to be crowned King of Camelot. And then, the world of wolves had died out again, wolves passed, wolves dissapeared.

And once again, it was time for the wolves to prosper. Something, some instinct told him this truth. And that same instinct had driven him home. Home to Camelot. To watch him stride through these stone gates, the rotting wooden doors long gone - but that didn't seem to be a problem for the wolves. The gardens within had long since grown wild, and rosevines grew haphasardly(sp?) along the walls, intermixed with honeysuckle and ivy. The flowers in the grassy walks were far from their neat trimmed borders, and the weeds grew between cracks in the stones that only grew wider with each passing year.

Yet despite these broken stones and overrun gardens, Kaiyn swelled with a feeling of peace. He let his breath draw out into almost a sigh, but it was happy and...accomplished. As he watched, the sun began to set on his precious gatehouse, and he strode up the broken path toward the castle. A king coming home he was. He was Ferdie's son, through and through, with a large frame, supple with muscles, thick with the silver and white fur of his mother, her beauty alone had graced him and his twin. Silver, mixed with black, white, and a touch of brown, riddled him over. But downy, snowy white covered his belly, the inside of his legs and some of his muzzle, lit up and contrasting with the sunlight. And his face, it was as well, his mother's, exquisite, a shapely muzzle, erect ears, and the bluest sapphire eyes to be seen. A well of emotion, or an ocean of it, lay there, flickering and proving the life within him.

He paused halfway through, a smile alighting his muzzle and transforming his eyes into an october sky of blue. He knew she was here.
