Subject: To Whom It May Concern

Its taken me some time to get my thoughts together and I'm not sure I'm quite there yet, but I think I have an obligation to explain my sudden absence, particularly since no one else has felt the need to do so. For those who don't know, I am no longer a member of Speargrass. I played lead guitar for this band for two years. It was a thrilling experience which I will never regret or forget. I had the opportunity to play some of the best original music I have ever played (or heard) for some of the nicest people that I have ever met. I consider these guys to be some of the most creative, inventive, and energetic musicians I have ever had the good fortune to make music with. I also considered them to be my friends. At the risk of airing dirty laundry, I was kicked out of this band without any warning or provocation. The only one who talked to me was Ellis. Matt began a conversation and never bothered to finish it. Jim and Jack have never spoken to me or acknowledged anything about this. After two years of ups and downs it is extremely offensive and hurtful to have it end up this way. My first instinct was to, like my friend Dave, take the high road with a few kind words and exit gracefully. Since I consider all of you my friends, I opted to tell the truth instead, as I see it anyway. I am not innocent. I am moody, critical, and can be difficult at times. I am also honest and respectful of my friends and the people I choose to make music with and I expect the same. So if you want to know why I am no longer in the band you will have to ask my friends in Speargrass because I was not given a reason. To all of you who ever offered me a kind word or enjoyed anything I played, I am eternally grateful. I love you all very much though I may not have always acted like it. I can not always help my personality so I try to say what I have to say in my playing. Anyone who wants to keep in touch or has any leads on new projects please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Thanks again for everything.
Eric
